Follow these tips for a perfect install your first try!
💌 Message your favorite a Virtual Designer if you need more support💌

🪟Measure window width – Add several inches on each side for opening the drapes to reveal a larger looking window.

🪟Consider your style - for a puddled look, lower hardware height or use longer drapery panels. The inverse will allow them to hang just above the floor to deter dust. If using rings, account the panels hanging lower.

🪟Measure the height – Choose the longest length available in the style of your choosing that fits within your ceiling height to make your room feel taller and more expensive. Leave 2” from the ceiling so the rod can fit into the installed hardware.

🪟Measure Twice, Drill Once - Checking for studs, metal or electricity with a stud finder will allow you to avoid trouble by adjusting evenly on both sides before drilling.

🪟Install brackets – Use anchors supplied with the hardware if not drilling into studs.

Imagine finding out you’re PREGNANT within a month of quitting your job to commit to your business!!

You guys I was depressed, sick, and even in denial a bit. During what’s usually a peaceful time, I felt like I was fighting for my future.

I worked all day and night, imposter syndrome had me in a chokehold, I even had to be induced almost a month early due to preeclampsia and a likelihood of stroke.

My husband and his brother lead our team while I was in the hospital. My parents cared for our dog at home between visits to me, while I was on my laptop and IVs keeping projects going and reassuring clients who kindly trusted this very pregnant woman to finish their spaces.

2 weeks after an emergency C section I was back on site, even while experiencing heavy bleeding complications for 11 months after birth.

My family, God, and the strength of the women who’ve come before me were all that got me through, as I fought to bring our beautiful son and a successful business into the world at the same time.

The same dedication, grit, and integrity that guided us then is still the fabric of this business today as I continue transforming spaces all while being my 2 year old son’s daily childcare (pray for me and my little intern 🙏🏽😂)

Everyone has a story, everyone deserves rest and validation, and that’s why I pour my heart into each space I’m blessed to take on.

🔊 Some ASMR from our little amateur garden! This was our first year of growing from seeds🤯 swipe to see where it started for us on a 3rd story balcony in our first apartment☺️

we’re hopeful for this year’s jalapeños, sweet peppers, potatoes, cucumber, cantaloupe, watermelon, basil, tomatoes, rosemary, cilantro, and our salad greens have taken off too.

Now don’t be surprised if this North Carolina heat hits and it’s all crispy by mid-July😬 we’ll do our best lol.

After a month+ of late nights, research, and crashing software, you can breeze through this open house in 45 seconds😉

This was our first full home 3D model— that being said we’re happy with the results but excited to continue to improve.❤️

Don’t tell Mike I’m sharing this😆

In 2019 we attended a “Picasso Style” #PaintAndSip, I think his portrait of me came out better because of the sip part 😂😂 it makes me sooo happy because am I really this beautiful cross between #Jigsaw and the #Grinch? Y’all peep the sparkle in my eyes?? Definitely outdid me. He’s been asking to paint me again for 6 years but why when this is my favorite piece in our whole home?? (even though without the “sip” he IS a phenomenal artist)

It just reminds me how there for us he is. He’s invested so much heart, skill, and effort behind the scenes to ensure Patina Novum thrives, and somehow keeps us laughing despite stress, exhaustion, or pressure.

I say all this to say that your home has to be filled with things that make you happy, not just what is conventionally acceptable. These pieces are over our bed, and now my two year old greets them as mama and dada (clearly the resemblance is there) and they fit perfectly into the vibe of our sweet little rental home (even the yellow walls and brown carpet 😀)

Time flies when you're virtually staging homes!! I really miss y'all and wanted to share some drafts of one of the projects I'm working on.

We're building a sweet 3 bed 2 bath bungalow in Dunn, NC featuring thoughtful finishes at a modest price point for the ideal starter home. This is one of 3 homes I'm currently curating selections for and staging, but the only one being staged virtually!

So far I've built a 3D model to scale, am importing the finishes and features from the final design for the home, and am filling it with furnishings and decor to give interested buyers a sense of what to expect. Once the space feels complete, I'm moving the entire model into a separate program to export life-like images of the space along with a virtual tour!

I'm also working on a few bedrooms, a lounge, and a pool deck, branding for a recovery and counselling center, graphics for a candle company, office and storage updates for my medspa, and heading to Carolina Beach this weekend for a conference. 🫠

I'm also beyond excited to have a curated art collection with @sageandroseprints and even featured a piece in this listing😉 In the coming weeks I'll be sharing more free curated design boards featuring Sage & Rose Prints that highlights decor and home goods from other small businesses.

I always say "I'm slowing down this quarter to focus on social media" AND I'M LYING TO MYSELF😂

Phase 1 of this project has been a covered screened in porch overlooking the future site of a gorgeous custom pool on its way to completion early next spring.

Inspired by the concept of conversation pits, I wanted to rededicate this space to late night conversations around the fire, a destination for serenity, regardless of the time of day or even the weather. Their previous set up worked well for a morning coffee, but we knew this space could be so much more.

Initially we thought about bringing in lush jeweltones against a darker palette to lean into the moodiness of an evening escape, when they're most able to enjoy themselves, but later opted for a neutral, high contrast palette allowing the colorful landscaping of the backyard to sing without competition.

We do what we do for the same reasons!

I'm a mom to a one year old, for instance. I love him dearly but there isn't a day he isn't grabbing at an earring or necklace😂 I also work with my hands and need to be careful about getting caught. You end up wearing less jewelry, and feeling a little less put together in the process. This permanent bracelet is a new little confidence boost while also being one less thing to worry about💅🏽✨️

Design does the same for people -- having a space that feels better organized, that suits your physical and emotional needs, that validates your best qualities, enhances your social life and boosts your confidence will energize other areas in your life and lift a bit of worry away.

It doesn't have to be drastic or expensive, a conversation is always a great start. 💖

Borrowing from vintage silhouettes and color palettes, we created a space that feels both masculine and cozy, youthful and sophisticated, current and timeless.🖤🌿
